New Boys Head Hockey Coach Named at Maple Grove Senior High School

Maple Grove Senior High alumnus Tom Starkey will assume the role of head coach of the Crimson boys hockey program.

Tom Starkey has been named as the new Maple Grove Senior High boys head hockey coach, according an email from Osseo School District School/Community Relations Director Barbara Olson.

A Maple Grove Senior High alumnus, Starkey has the following experience, according to the email from Olson.

  • As a Maple Grove Senior High student, Starkey played hockey the first year the school opened.
  • His hockey career with the Division 1 US Air Force Academy. He graduated from the academy with a degree in business management and became a 2nd Lieutenant, US Air Force Officer.
  • Recently, Starkey served as junior varsity and varsity assistant coach for Wayzata Public Schools.

Starkey will assume the leadership position the summer of 2013. The position has been vacant since the departure of Coach Gary Stefano in February.
