On the Maple Grove Patch Facebook page, where 17 people liked a post about Wednesday's ruling, Diane Siegler Fritz commented:

with 5 conservative justices....I suspect monkey business-fraud-persuasion and blackmail by lobbyist groups. I'm ok with striking it down. I'm not ok with shanigans. I smell a rat. A woman's intuition is never wrong.

That set off a back-and-forth, with Tim Genck responding:

Conservatism is used interchangeably with Christian in many circles, but that's not what they are ruling on. Basing a decision on a holy book instead of the Constitution is in direct violation of their duty and the law and creates a theocracy in our country.

There is no rat or blackmail in this case. It is giving rights to people instead of rights to beliefs, plain and simple.

Others had straightforward reactions, such as Shannon Riley's:

YES!!!!

Wrote Wendy Hudson:

I think it's great to see that at least some of the justices understand that equal protection really means equal protection.

Brittani Hoon Swedberg commented:

Fantastic!!! Nevermind politics or religion. Everybody deserves the same basic human rights and to be respected for who they are.
