Updated: One Dead, One Injuried After Tuesday Motorcycle Accident in Maple Grove

A motorcycle hit mailboxes and crashed in a residential neighborhood on Upland Lane, according to reports.

Updated 3:45 p.m. Aug. 6, 2013 to reflect information received from Maple Grove Police Department.

A 21-year-old Maple Grove man died the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 6 following a motorcycle accident on the 9200 block of Upland Lane in Maple Grove, according to the Maple Grove Police Captain Tracy Stille. A 19-year-old female passenger was taken to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale with non-life threatening injuries.

The motorcycle was traveling northbound near the 9200 block of Upland Lane and was attempting to turn a corner when the accident occurred, according to Stille. A KARE11 report stated which stated responding officers said, “a motorcycle left the roadway” and hit a number of mailboxes.

CPR was performed by responders for "quite some time" on the 21-year-old man, according to Stille, with efforts being unsuccessful. 

It is unknown at this time whether helmets were worn by the driver and/or the passenger.

Law enforcement continues to investigate the incident.
