Spanish Immersion Preschool Coming to Old Maple Grove Library

Jardín Mágico is based in Minneapolis.

A Spanish immersion preschool and day care center will soon occupy the former Maple Grove library after work to "re-purpose" the building is complete.

The center, Jardín Mágico, is based in Minneapolis with two locations there and one in Edina. Jardín Mágico is also opening a new location in Eden Prairie

According to a release from NorthMarq Real Estate Services, the Maple Grove location will be 14,000 square feet:

For Jardín Mágico’s Maple Grove center, McCarthy and Champeau negotiated a lease with Arrow Development Company to re-purpose the former Maple Grove Library. Build-out of the location is currently underway for a fall 2013 opening.   While bringing the facility up to current code and safety standards, Jardín Mágico took the opportunity to honor the intrinsic positive qualities of the iconic library through the continued use of large open spaces, natural light and an expansive outdoor green space.

The former library building sat empty after the new Maple Grove Hennepin County Library opened on Main Street in May 2010.

Hennepin County decided to put the Elm Creek Boulevard property up for sale in the fall of 2010.

The property, located at 8351 Elm Creek Boulevard on about 2.09-acres of land, was sold in November 2012.  Steven Fischer, who is the CEO and co-founder of Arrow Companies in Maple Grove, closed on the $1.5 million sale Nov. 15.
