‘Fare For All’ Offers Grocery Bargains

For shoppers looking to stretch their grocery budgets Thursday, the best bargains weren’t at a grocery store. They were at Lord of Life Lutheran Church.

The event was the church’s second Fare For All sale. With Fare For All, The Emergency Foodshelf Network buys food from wholesalers—the same companies grocery stores get their food from—and passes on savings of up to 40 percent on fresh fruits and vegetables and frozen meats.

Buying food at Fare for All events increases the network’s buying power, allowing the organization to help more food shelves. The event is open to everyone, regardless of income level.

Lord of Life Lutheran is one of two dozen Fare For All sites. It hosts a sale from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. one Thursday a month—although there are two in October. The next sale is Oct. 31.

Sales will also take place:

  • Dec. 12
  • Jan. 9
  • Feb. 6
  • March 6
  • April 10
  • May 8
Cash, credit/debit cards and EBT cards are accepted. Click here for a full list of Fare For All sites.
