Maple Grove Crimson Boys Soccer Fall to Minneapolis Southwest

The Crimson finished out their state Class AA tournament run in fourth place.

The Maple Grove Senior High boys soccer team finished up its state tournament run on Thursday, Nov. 3 with a 3-1 loss to Minneapolis Southwest in the Class AA third place game. The Crimson (14-5-2) finished the season with a 1-2 record at this year’s state tournament—their first trip to state since 2007. Southwest opened up scoring at the 6:48 mark of the first half when Ryan Mclean notched an unassisted goal. Mclean scored his second goal of the contest 16 seconds into the second half, making the score 2-0. Southwest continued to show off its offensive power with a goal by Chico Molina in the 68th minute, making it a 3-0 game.  The Crimson got on the scoreboard with 3:33 to play as Ryan Saladin scored unassisted to make it a 3-1 ballgame…

Maple Grove Senior High Boys Soccer Dome Bound, Defeat North St. Paul 2-0

Crimson team now heads into the state semifinals to be played in the Metrodome.

The Maple Grove Senior High boys soccer team faced off against North St. Paul in a quarterfinal matchup played at the neutral site of Roseville High School on Thursday evening. The Crimson came out strong and took a two-goal lead in the first half. But it may not have been their offense that won them the game, but their defense and goaltending efforts. The team held North St. Paul scoreless, even though the Polars attacked relentlessly after Maple Grove's two goals. PJ Enright's athletic saves kept the ball out of North St. Paul's goal as the Polars pressed late in the second half. Crimson boys varsity soccer team win their Section 5AA game against the Rebels Oct. 13 in high school sports action.

The Maple Grove Senior High School boys varsity soccer team won a close 1-0 game against Champlin Park High School Oct. 13 at home in the sectional playoffs. The win advances the Crimson to the next bracket of Section 5AA playoff Saturday, Oct. 15 against Mounds View High School. The teams will play 3 p.m. at Maple Grove Senior High.

Photos: Heritage Christian Academy Boys Soccer Defeats New Life Academy

The first day of school Sept. 6 also brought with it the fourth win of the season for the Heritage Christian Academy boys soccer team in Maple Grove.

After a tough first half, the Heritage Christian Academy boys soccer team rallied for a win against New Life Academy of Woodbury by a score of 3-1. Despite having a strong offensive presence during the first half of the Sept. 6 game, Heritage Christian Academy remained tied with New Life Academy at halftime. About five minutes into the second half, junior Bradley Basco scored the first goal of the game. Junior Justin Piekes followed up with another point for Heritage Christian Academy about 15 minutes into the second half. A corner kick by Woodbury's Daniel Sleper brought the game to within one point, with Heritage retaining the lead. Overtime Brings Another Win for Crimson Girls Soccer

The Maple Grove Senior High girls soccer team won against the Champlin Park Rebels 2-1 in overtime Aug. 30.

An undefeated season for the Maple Grove Senior High girls varsity soccer team continues after a win against Champlin Park High School Aug. 30. The Tuesday game remained scoreless through the first half, with the Crimson holding a tight defense against the Rebels. About 20 minutes into the second half, the Rebels scored. A short time later, junior forward Haley Nelson tied up the game for the Crimson which led the team into overtime. About four minutes into overtime play, the Crimson's junior forward Kailey Beatt scored to win the game. The Maple Grove Senior High girls soccer team takes on Minneapolis Washburn Aug. 31.

Maple Grove Boys Soccer Team Earns Early Season Win Over Orono

Non-conference action against Orono Aug. 25 brings a win for the Maple Grove Senior High boys soccer team.

The Maple Grove Senior High boys soccer team defeated the Orono Spartans by a final score of 3-1 on Thursday, Aug. 25. The Crimson found themselves on offense for most of the game.

Maple Grove U16 C3 Boys Soccer Team Wins MYSA State Championship

In a close game, the MapleBrook Soccer Association U16 C3 boys soccer team recently captured in state tournament championship title by a score of 1-0 against Coulee Region.

The MapleBrook Soccer Association U16 C3 boys soccer won the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) State Tournament Championship Tournament in their division July 27 at the Coon Rapids Soccer Facility. The Maple Grove team beat Coulee Region 1-0.

MapleBrook Soccer Teams Compete at USA Cup

Maple Grove boys, girls youth soccer squads compete at international tournament in Blaine.

Multiple boys and girls teams from the MapleBrook Soccer Association in Maple Grove competed at the internationally known Schwan's USA Cup Tournament July 19-23 at the National Sports Center in Blaine. Squads with players from age 10 through 19 took part in the five-day tournament, battling the elements as well as teams at the yearly competition.
