A winter weather advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 for Hennepin County. Snow removal started around 3 a.m. Friday in Maple Grove.
Snow is falling as predicted with Winter Storm Q in the Twin Cities, and it was a slow going on highways and roads around Maple Grove. Several accidents occurred throughout Minnesota Friday morning. From 5 a.m. to 9 a.m, the Minnesota State Patrol stated there has been 124 crashes, 23 with injuries and one fatality in Eagan. Another 119 vehicles have left the road or spun out, including two on westbound Highway 610 near Highway 169 as reported by the Star Tribune. The National Weather Service has Hennepin County under a winter snow advisory until 6 p.m. Friday with a forecast of four to six inches possible throughout the day. After observing a moment of silence for the Newtown, CT community, members of the Maple Grove City Council addressed several items at a Dec. 17 meeting – including Highway 610. Two days after most of the Twin Cities area, including Maple Grove, received more than 10 inches of snow, traveling the roadways remained complicated in spots. The funding application resolution, approved Dec. 3 meeting, gives the city the green light to apply to the Minnesota Department of Transportation for Chapter 152 Statewide Transit Grant Solicitation Program Funds. Two bridges in northwestern Maple Grove moved closer to structure replacement as the Maple Grove City Council awarded the project to R.L. Larason Excavating at their Dec. 3 meeting. The bridges are located at 105th Avenue North over Rush Creek and Dunkirk Lane North over Rush Creek, according to a memo provided to the Council at the Dec. 3 meeting. Eight bids were received for the project. The project was awarded to the lowest bidder, R.L. The closure will take place between County Road 101 to Nottingham Parkway in Maple Grove.
As one of the final phases of the Bass Lake Road reconstruction project, the roadway will be partially closed between County Road 101 to Nottingham Parkway in Maple Grove Monday, Oct. 15. The city of Maple Grove sent out a notification to residents Wednesday, noting that the original closure date of Saturday was postponed due to potential for inclement weather. The Bass Lake Road reconstruction project is expected to be “fully complete and fully open,” according to the Maple Grove city website. Round abouts are good for traffic flow but people for one need to know how to use them and sadly many don't. secondly when they are built they need to be built bigger so as not to back up traffic trying to enter them. I personally don't think there is enough room for one to be added here.   more ›
