Photos: Maple Grove Sports Dome Opens

The multipurpose sports dome offers a turf and dome facility for area sports organizations, Osseo School District schools as well as a community-walking track.

After years of waiting and preparation, the Maple Grove Sports Dome is officially open. The multipurpose artificial turf field and dome facility opened behind Maple Grove Senior High at the beginning of November. In the spirit of partnership that the dome was built, representatives from the city of Maple Grove, Osseo School District, MapleBrook Soccer, Osseo Maple Grove Athletic Association and Hennepin County spoke at the opening celebration Saturday, Nov. 19. “It’s a great addition to our community,” Maple Grove Mayor Mark Steffenson in his opening remarks at the event. “It is a very exciting day.”  Steffenson thanked all of the partners involved in the project, stating the dome was a “great collaborative project." Maple Grove Youth Sports Groups Get New Place to Play

A new domed sports complex is coming to Maple Grove and is scheduled to open in early November 2011.

A new sports complex is coming to Maple Grove to service year-round activities for local sport organizations as well as students in the Osseo School District. The facility will accommodate games and training sessions, serving as an outdoor playing field in the summer and as an indoor "domed" facility in the winter. The Maple Grove Sports Dome complex is designed to serve sports such as football, soccer, lacrosse, softball, baseball and other activities. It will be located behind Maple Grove Senior High and, according to the city of Maple Grove Superintendent of Recreation Mark Saari, it will be ready for use at the end of high school fall sports season, in early November.
