A 30-year-old Eagan woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia on the 12900 block of 63rd Avenue North April 21. A 41-year-old Maple Grove woman was arrested for shoplifting on the 8100 block of Wedgewood Lane North April 21. Sgt. Dan Barnier and Officer Mike Helman are saying farewell to the Maple Grove Police Department.
The beginning of 2013 brings two retirements to the Maple Grove Police Department. Sgt. Dan Barnier is retiring after 38 years in law enforcement. A farewell reception and to recognize is longtime commitment to law enforcement is scheduled 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17 at the Maple Grove Government Center Emergency Operations Center. A program will be at 3 p.m. Officer Mike Helman is retiring as well from the Maple Grove Police Department. A farewell reception and to recognize his commitment to law enforcement is scheduled 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22 at the Maple Grove Government Center Emergency Operations Center. Police officers from across the metro, including Maple Grove, gathered at the Golden Valley police station to donate toys to children in need.
On Dec. 19, 45 police cars and SUVs streamed into Golden Valley, lining the streets near City Hall. But this was no emergency. With cars full of gifts, about 20 metro-area police departments gathered at the Golden Valley police station in preparation for the Golden Valley Police Department's 19th annual Toys for Tots parade to the KARE 11 drop-off site. While officers admit that it's almost impossible to count how many toys each department donates, Golden Valley police told Patch that cops bring thousands of gifts to the KARE 11 tent each year.
