A local church is selling 11 acres of land to help build the last leg of Highway 610.
It has taken decades for Highway 610 to be built, and even after years of construction, one piece still remains unfinished. The 2.5-mile stretch from County Road 81 to Interstate 94 is the last leg of the highway. While it is not slated for construction for years yet, the City of Maple Grove is preparing for the completion of the highway. The City of Maple Grove plans to purchase about 11 acres of land from Maple Grove Lutheran Church for the highway project. According to city documents, the city will cut the church a check for $520,000 for land that sits at 14401 99th Avenue. After observing a moment of silence for the Newtown, CT community, members of the Maple Grove City Council addressed several items at a Dec. 17 meeting – including Highway 610. Details of the revised layout for the Highway 610 extension from County Road 81 to Interstate 94 were first unveiled at a Dec. 11 public meeting (see attached PDF). “This revised layout is the product of a study and follow up design project funded by some of the federal monies for TH [Highway] 610,” Maple Grove Traffic Engineer Marc Culver wrote in a memo to the council. The design for the proposed county road extension from County Road 30 to I-94 will be presented.
