Fish Lake Regional Park to Receive Improvements

Construction during the summer of 2013 will result in a temporary closure of Fish Lake Regional Park in Maple Grove to vehicle traffic during the project.

As part of a pavement management project Fish Lake Regional Park in Maple Grove will be undergoing a few changes –and a few disruptions - during the summer of 2013. The project includes replacing pavement on the entrance road, parking lots and paved trails in the park. The boat ramp is also scheduled be replaced. “The boat ramp at Fish Lake Regional Park has been a frequent source of complaints by park users due to its shallow depth and drop-off at the end of the ramp. As part of this project, the Park District will replace the existing boat ramp with a longer ramp that will extend into deeper water,” according to the press release. Recycled Bird Feeders Sunday, Dec. 2, from 1:30-2:30 p.m., at Eastman Nature Center, in Elm Creek Park Reserve, Dayton. Prepare a feast table for the birds. Make bird feeders using milk cartons, pinecones, and meshing. Learn which birdseed attracts which birds. Receive seed and a suet cake to take home.Cost is $5 and reservations are required. Three Rivers Park District offers preschoolers and their parent an opportunity to learn about animals and their babies.

My Preschooler & Me: Puppet Escapades - Animal Babies 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16 at Fish Lake Regional Park Learn about animals and their babies, play a game, and take a springtime hike. Photos: Eggstravaganza at Fish Lake Regional Park

Three Rivers Park District hosted the Eggstravaganza Friday in Maple Grove.

Children from around the Twin Cities gathered at Fish Lake Regional Park the morning of Friday, April 6 for the Eggstravaganza event, which included live bunnies, crafts, games, treats, egg hunt and a meet-and-greet with giant rabbit. Fish Lake Regional Park, located off of Bass Lake Road in Maple Grove, is part of the Three Rivers Park District.  Editor's note: Were you at the Eggstravaganza event? PHOTOS: Rotary Deep Freeze Dunk

The Rotary Club of Maple Grove, along with other Rotary Clubs and individuals, jumped in Fish Lake Saturday to help Haiti.

To raise money to build a public secondary school in Rankit, Haiti, members of the Rotary Club of Maple Grove and other supporters participated in the Deep Freeze Dunk Saturday, Jan. 21 at Fish Lake Regional Park.

Three Rivers Park District Summer Camp Registration Opens Jan. 13

Day camps are offered at several Three Rivers Parks throughout the Twin Cities for children 4 to 15 years old.

Registration for summer camps in Three Rivers Park District begins Jan. 13, 2012. Programs offered include hands-on recreational, nature and cultural heritage programs. Camp topics include nature exploration, outdoor recreation, golfing, fishing, farming, and Minnesota history. Camps are offered at Three Rivers  nature and visitor centers, golf facilities, Fish Lake Regional Park, The Landing - Minnesota River Heritage Park, and Gale Woods Farm. Children must be in the age group indicated for each camp. Camp dates, times and fees vary. Reservations, pre-payment and health waiver are due at least two weeks in advance of camp starting date.   The Three Rivers Park District is offering "My Preschooler & Me: Puppet Escapades: Mystery Tracks" Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Fish Lake Regional Park. Preschoolers and their parents can help the puppets unravel the clues from mysterious tracks. Go on a winter hike after the show. Cost is $4 and reservations are required. A live owl will make an appearance at January's Book Worms Story Hour, offered through the Three Rivers Park District.

  As a way to explore nature at the Three Rivers Park District, there will be a "My Preschooler and Me: Book Worms Story Hour: Read 'Owl' About It!"
