The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to review an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) regarding future four-lane divided county road between County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 30 and Highway 610 in Maple Grove and the future interchange at Highway 610 and I-94 in Maple Grove. After observing a moment of silence for the Newtown, CT community, members of the Maple Grove City Council addressed several items at a Dec. 17 meeting – including Highway 610. Details of the revised layout for the Highway 610 extension from County Road 81 to Interstate 94 were first unveiled at a Dec. 11 public meeting (see attached PDF). “This revised layout is the product of a study and follow up design project funded by some of the federal monies for TH [Highway] 610,” Maple Grove Traffic Engineer Marc Culver wrote in a memo to the council. Area residents and business owners are invited to attend an open house to learn about the updated design of a project to expand Highway 610. The design for the proposed county road extension from County Road 30 to I-94 will be presented. The open house will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the City of Maple Grove Government Center, 12800 Arbor Lakes Parkway. Open house attendees will be able to learn the details of the project, view project layouts and ask questions of MnDOT, Hennepin County and Maple Grove project staff. Police say the victim was walking across County Road 30 in Maple Grove when he was struck by a vehicle.
A man has died as a result of a fatal accident in Maple Grove Friday, Nov. 4. The accident happened around 6:36 a.m. Friday. The male victim, who appeared to be elderly, according to Maple Grove Police Captain Tracy Stille, was struck while trying to cross in the eastbound lane of County Road 30 near Ranchview Lane. Police are treating the incident as an accident, Stille said, but it is still under investigation by the Maple Grove Police Department, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and Minnesota State Patrol. The name of the victim has not yet been released by the Hennepin County Medical Examiners Office pending relative notification. The story will be updated as further details become available.

I know this might be a stretch but it was really, really dark this morning. Even at 7 am, it was still almost pitch black outside because the sun was not close to rising yet. Daylight Savings Time is now pushed back so long. I wonder if visibility was a factor.   more ›
