More then 200 pieces are on display at the Maple Grove Government Center through March 31.
Students throughout the Osseo School District contributed art for the annual District 279 Student Art Show hosted by the Maple Grove Arts Council. The art show, featuring two- and three-dimensional works of art, continues throughout March 2013 at the Maple Grove Government Center. Viewing hours 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Maple Grove business invites people of all artistic levels to have fun and paint.
Katie Peine says she has no artistic talent. Yet now she's making paintings for Christmas gifts, and she's having fun while she's painting them. Peine was attending a class at The Paint Pub for the second time on July 25. Paint Pub offers more than just art classes. Participants can socialize and have food, beer, and wine while receiving step-by-step instructions on how to complete the painting of the day. "Creative, meet people, wine and beer. What more do you want?" said Lyle Svendsen, another participant at Wednesday's class. Owners Tom and Jill Tufano opened The Paint Pub in May. The Maple Grove Government Center is doubling as an art gallery where paintings, ceramics, and sketches from students in Osseo District 279 are on display.
The Maple Grove Arts Council is sponsoring the Osseo School District Art Show where residents can view 300 pieces of art at the Government Center during the month of March. Teachers within the district were responsible for selecting artwork from students of all ages. Ultimately five pieces will be chosen for awards. Viewing hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
