Report: Maple Grove Resident Referenced in Murder Charges Against Husband of Kira (Trevino) Steger

His Maple Grove address was found in Jeffrey Trevino's car after she went missing, the Star Tribune reported.

An amended criminal complaint alleging that Jeffery Trevino murdered his wife, Kira (Trevino) Steger, references an unnamed Maple Grove resident, according to the Star Tribune: Days after Kira Steger went missing in late February, a search of her abandoned car recovered divorce documents, while a search of her husband Jeffery Trevino’s vehicle recovered the address of a Maple Grove man Steger had been romantically linked to. ... Steger, also known as Kira Trevino, but whose legal last name remained Steger after her marriage, exchanged “numerous” text ­messages that night with the Maple Grove man, who was out of town, according to an amended complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court. Lightning Strikes Maple Grove Home Sunday Morning

Homeowner: “I thought a bomb went off.”

As heavy rains and thunderstorms moved through Maple Grove Sunday, May 19, a Maple Grove home on the 9900 block of Troy Lane was struck by lightning. Homeowner Deb McGray said the lightning hit the home shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday morning. “I thought a bomb went off,” she said, stating the sound was “horrific.” McGray said her husband went out the front door, saw the house on fire and advised her to call 911.   Approximately 30 to 40 Maple Grove firefighters from two stations were at the home Sunday morning working on the home. Maple Grove Fire Chief Scott Anderson said 4 by 8 piece of the roof was “blown off by the lightning.”    No injuries have been reported. Maple Grove Woman Charged With Serving Alcohol to Minor

The gross misdemeanor charge came following the drowning death of a Brooklyn Park man April 26, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

On April 26, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the death of 20-year-old Andrew Michael Pitts of Brooklyn Park. The victim drowned in a pond near 12300 Elm Creek Boulevard in Maple Grove. Witnesses told Sheriff’s Office detectives that Pitts was intoxicated when he left a restaurant, walked a short distance onto a partially-frozen pond, and then broke through the ice, according to a press release from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.   The Sheriff’s Office investigation has determined that a bartender at Claddagh’s Irish Pub in Maple Grove had served alcohol to Pitts, according to the press release. Maple Grove Burglary Suspects in Custody After Multi-City Pursuit

Police are crediting a concerned neighbor for calling 911 as the burglary reportedly occurred Wednesday.

Maple Grove resident Grant Holthus saw a car he didn't recognize pull into his neighbor's driveway Wednesday morning. As he watched, Holthus heard loud knocking repeatedly on his neighbor’s door, noticed an individual push his way into the house and others pulling the car into the garage. “It seemed suspicious from the beginning. Something definitely didn’t look right—I knew it wasn’t my neighbor's car and I have never seen these people,” he said, later stating it all happened within about a 10 minutes.  “As soon as they got inside the house, I called 911,” Holthus said. “In less than 60 seconds, police met them as they were pulling out of the driveway.” It was that 911 call that Maple Grove Police are crediting with three suspects being …

Maple Grove Among Places Targeted in Search for Missing Mandy Matula

Her former boyfriend, David Roe, was in Maple Grove the night she disappeared, according to authorities.

The search for Mandy Matula of Eden Prairie, missing since May 2, 2013, extends to Maple Grove, according to authorities, her family and volunteers. David Roe, Matula's ex-boyfriend and a person of interest in the case, killed himself May 4 before police could question him. His phone records from the night Matula went missing are the link to Maple Grove, as explained at the City of Eden Prairie website: Police are reviewing both physical and electronic evidence that might lead to Matula’s location, including Roe’s vehicle, cellphone and computer, his home and financial records. Charges Filed Against Driver of Stolen Motorcycle that Police Chased Down Interstate

Additional charges could be filed against a St. Cloud man following I-94 chase last week.

The driver of a motorcycle that led several law enforcement agencies on a chase down I-94 last week has been charged by Hennepin County prosecutors with fleeing police and DWI. An off-duty Plymouth police officer was in the area of I-94 and Weaver Lake Road in Maple Grove last Wednesday, May 1, when he observed a motorcycle driving erratically and almost hitting several vehicles, according to the criminal complaint filed late last week and signed by Deputy Ramone Walton of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.
