The Maple Grove Fire Department has 90 paid, on-call firefighters to respond to fires, rescue incidents and hazmat issues from five fire stations located throughout the city. The department has several fire safety education initiatives which it shares at 10 elementary schools and at the junior high. Special programs, such as fire extinguisher training and fire drills, are provided for day care providers, senior citizens and area businesses. The department also offers a Maple Grove Fire Explorers program for youth 15-21 years of age who want to learn more about fire service. The Maple Grove Fire Department recruits candidates each year, applications are accepted May-August. Administrative offices for full time staff are located at the Maple Grove Government Center.
