Brief: Maple Grove Church Donates Thousands of Pounds of Produce to CROSS Foodshelf

The plentiful produce was grown at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church community garden where it was planted and harvested by volunteers.

 

Despite a , volunteers at in Maple Grove were able to harvest and donate 6,779 pounds of fresh produce to (Christians Reaching Out In Social Service) Food Shelf.

The donation to the local nonprofit organization loses the second season of the church’s community garden.  About 75 percent of the garden is communal space, where gardener’s work together to grow vegetables that are all donated to C.R.O.S.S. Food Shelf.

Last year, Lord of Life donated about 8,000 pounds of fresh vegetables to the area food shelf harvested from the community garden.

C.R.O.S.S. is a nonprofit organization that provides food and clothing to those in temporary need, serving Maple Grove, Osseo, west Champlin, Corcoran, Dayton, Hassan and Rogers.
