Area Pet Owners Give Back in Golden Valley for the Walk for Animals

Approximately 8,000 people and 4,000 pets converged in Golden Valley Saturday, May 5 for Animal Humane Society’s 38th annual Walk for Animals. Dogs came out with their owners - as well as dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, a rat, a parrot, a turtle, and even a duck were involved in the walk.

“We are overwhelmed by the tremendous support of the community whose contributions sustain us for the year,” said Janelle Dixon, president/CEO of Animal Humane Society. “We are humbled by their generosity and trust of the work of we do. We could not do what we do for animals without the partnership of the community.”

The Walk supports the 30,000 animals that Animal Humane Society helps each year at its five locations in Buffalo, Coon Rapids, Golden Valley, St. Paul and Woodbury. As a private non-profit organization, Animal Humane Society receives no federal, state or government funding and relies on private donations to continue to provide important programs and services to the community.
