Northwest Metro Road Report: July 12-15

Here is a list of some of the road construction projects, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), Hennepin County and area cities, which might impact motorists traveling through the northwest metro for July 12 through July 15, 2012.

Interstate 494 northbound   

Road closed to traffic between Interstate 394 from Highway 12 in Minnetonka to County Road 6 (exit 21) in Plymouth starting 10 a.m. Friday, July 13 until 5 a.m. Sunday, July 15. During closure, MnDOT is detouring traffic to eastbound Interstate 394, northbound Highway 169 and westbound Interstate 94 and 694. Closure is due to paving.

Highway 100

Road closure on Highway 100 between Highway 55 and Duluth Street (exit 9B) in Golden Valley starting 11:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12 until 4 a.m. Friday, July 13. State Patrol will be assisting with traffic control. Road closed while for Center Point Energy to do “pipeline integrity testing.”

Highway 65

Highway 65 from Minneapolis to Fridley.  Construction expected through August 2012 for resurfacing, storm sewer drainage repairs, accessibility upgrades, bridge repairs, guardrail improvements and traffic signal upgrades. Some lane closures and full closures on the weekend.  Construction may also be completed this weekend on Highway 65 from Interstate 694 to County Road 24 in Fridley, Spring Lake Park, Blaine and East Bethel for signal timing, install fiber optics and cameras at various intersections. Work could include lane and shoulder closures.

Interstate 94 westbound

Road reconstruction is taking place between County Road 19 in Albertville and State Highway 241 near St. Michael with one lane closed.

Highway 109/Weaver Lake Road

Work continues on County Road 109/Weaver Lake Road between Main Street in Maple Grove and 85th Avenue in Brooklyn Park. Delays are anticipated until construction completion July 2013.

County Road 50

County Road 50 will be closed to through traffic from County Road 139 to Highway 55 in the city of Independence until approximately Sept. 11, 2012, according to Hennepin County. There will be a detour marked. The closure is due to riverbank stabilization.         

Bass Lake Road / County Road 10

Road reconstruction continues on Bass Lake Road in Maple Grove. The speed limit in the construction area has been reduced to 35 miles per hour.

Highway 55

Road closed on State Highway 55 in both directions between County Road 92/Dogwood Street and County Road 19 in Medina. Expect delays. Major reconstruction expected until July 31, 2012.
