New Tournaments Added to Maple Grove Days Events

Spiketacular sand volleyball and pickleball tournaments are new activities added for the 2012 Maple Grove Days.

Spiketacular sand volleyball and pickleball, both un-officiated tournaments, join the lineup competitive activities during the 2012 Maple Grove Days.

Pickleball combines ping-pong, tennis and badminton while being played with a smaller racquet/paddle and a whiffle ball.  The doubles tournament will have a men’s and women’s category with registration by skill level. Competition takes place at the on Thursday, July 12. 

MRPA is offering a Four Summer Spiketacular (4’s and 6’s) One Day Sand Volleyball Tournament. You can sign up for all four tournaments or just one.  Tournaments take place during Fridley 49’er Days, Maple Grove Days (Sunday, July 15), Shoreview Days or Woodbury Days. There will be four or five team pools with single-elimination finals.  All matches are self-officiated and rally scored. Prizes for the top two teams.

After a debut in 2011, the Cornhole (Beanbag Toss) Tournament is back again for the 2012 Maple Grove Days on Saturday, July 14.  Check out your aim; toss the corn bag into the hole. Each team of  two is guaranteed to compete in a two match tournament. Participants must be 18 to register and fee is $40 before June 30 or $50 after June 30. Early registration is suggested, space is limited.  Prizes for the first four places. The winning team will take away the bragging rights as Maple Grove Days Cornhole Champions and $400 prize.
