Minnesota State Fair 2012 Ribbon Winners from Maple Grove: Creative Activities

From folk painting on wood to toy creation to canning, Maple Grove residents brought home a variety of ribbons in the Creative Activities category from the 2012 Minnesota State Fair.

Creativity was rewarded with ribbons for several Maple Grove residents at the Minnesota State Fair 2012.

Here’s a list of the winners in the Creative Activities category:

Robert Munson

  • First place – Free hand painting on wood (furniture, large piece). According to Munson, the winning cabinet was painted in original design Norwegian Rosemaling (folk art) and is in honor of the 45 wedding anniversary of he and his wife.
  • Second place – Free hand painting on wood (furniture, small piece)
  • Second place – Free hand painting on other material
  • Second place – Folk painting on wood (handcrafts, senior citizens).

Julie Fletcher

  • First place - Decorative crafts (beadwork)
  • First and second place – Decorative crafts (Upper Midwest Bead Soceity)

  • Second place – Gedney best “original flavor” pickle (special contests)
  • Fourth place – Gedney best “no sugar” sweet pickle (special contests)

  • Third place – Wood construction (small toy)

  • Third place – Weaving, knotting, felting and canning (loom weaving, scarf)
