Fish Lake Regional Park to Receive Improvements

Construction during the summer of 2013 will result in a temporary closure of Fish Lake Regional Park in Maple Grove to vehicle traffic during the project.

As part of a pavement management project Fish Lake Regional Park in Maple Grove will be undergoing a few changes –and a few disruptions - during the summer of 2013.

The project includes replacing pavement on the entrance road, parking lots and paved trails in the park. The boat ramp is also scheduled be replaced.

“The boat ramp at Fish Lake Regional Park has been a frequent source of complaints by park users due to its shallow depth and drop-off at the end of the ramp. As part of this project, the Park District will replace the existing boat ramp with a longer ramp that will extend into deeper water,” according to the press release.

During the construction projects, the park may be closed intermittently to vehicular traffic. Foot and bike traffic will still be able to access the beaches and trails, which will remain open, according to Three Rivers Park District Media Relations Specialist Tom Knisely.

Subject to weather and contractor schedule, construction is planned to start and be completed by October 2013.

The removal and replacement of the boat ramp  “will require closure of the park to all vehicular traffic from July 15 to September 15,” according to Three Rivers Park District. The majority of road and parking lot work is anticipated to be completed during the closure time as well.

“Depending on specific construction operations at the time, the general intent is to keep the park open to users entering on foot or non-motorized vehicles via neighborhood trail connections or the Medicine Lake Regional Trail. Park users should be aware of and follow the construction signage for their safety throughout the project.  Visit www.ThreeRiversParks.org for updates,” the release said.
