Farm Life, Pond Life and Doodlebugs: Activities for Kids in Three Rivers Park District

From preschoolers to youth, a variety of activities are taking place May 20-25, 2013 in the Twin Cities.

Preschool Drop-off: Kits & Cubs: Pond Life

Monday, May 20, from 1-3 p.m., at Lowry Nature Center, in Carver Park Reserve, Victoria. Drop off your preschooler to explore nature in spring. They will discover the natural world through hands-on learning, stories, art, songs, play activities, live animals and hikes. Cost is $10 and reservations are required. Preschool Drop-off: Doodlebugs

Tuesday, May 21, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., or 1-3 p.m., at Silverwood Park, St. Anthony. Each week’s activities are based on a different children’s book with a nature-inspired art theme. Kids spend part of every class exploring the fresh, new world spring brings, then get messy as cutting, pasting, painting, or sculpting. Dress for the weather and bring a small snack, water bottle, and a bag to keep all projects together. Cost is $10 and reservations are required. Tuesday, May 21, from 1-3 p.m., at Richardson Nature Center, in Hyland Lake Park Reserve, Bloomington. Drop off your kids to investigate movers in Hyland Lake Park Reserve. This month, we will explore how animals move and see if we can move in those same ways, make a craft, and end the day with a healthy snack brought from home. Saturday Mornings on the Farm

Saturday, May 25, from 9:30 a.m.-noon, Gale Woods Farm, Minnetrista. Explore the Gale Woods Farm barn where you can meet animals, assist a Gale Woods farmer with chores, and participate in other seasonal farm activities. Cost is $5 and this program is open to all ages.
