Osseo Grad to Step Into the Ring for ESPN’s Friday Night Fights

Minnesotan Caleb 'Golden' Truax will take on Derek 'Pooh' Ennis, of Philadelphia.

Osseo High School grad Caleb “Golden” Truax will step into the big time this week when he laces up his gloves for ESPN Friday Night Fights at the Target Center.

The 30-year-old Truax—who has a record of 23-1, with four knockouts—captured the United States Boxing Association middleweight (160 pound) title Sept. 21. On Friday, he’ll step into the ring for a 10-round televised semi-final against former USBA Champion Derek “Pooh” Ennis, of Philadelphia ((23-4-1, 13 KOs).

The event—which is being put on by Iron Mike Productions, Seconds Out Promotions and Warriors Boxing—airs on ESPN2 starting at 8 a.m. It will be headlined by a 12-round IBF Super Featherweight Championship fight between champion Argenis Mendez (21-2-1, 11 KOs) of Brooklyn, NY via San Juan, Dominican Republic against No. 1-ranked undefeated challenger Rances “Kid Blast” Barthelemy (19-0, 12 KOs) from Miami, via Cuba.
