Maple Grove High School's varsity softball team won the Section 5AAA Championship Thursday afternoon with a 5-1 win over Coon Rapids. Maple Grove now heads to the Minnesota State Softball Tournament, which begins June 6 in Mankato.
The Crimson will take on Bloomington Jefferson in the first round of state tournament action.
Maple Grove has only lost one game this season—to Eagan on May 11—and have outscored their opponents 42-6 in their last seven games.
Maple Grove lost to Stillwater last year in the state tournament finals.
