Maple Grove Taekwondo Instructor Takes Coaching Skills to the Olympics
Grandmaster Eui Lee is excited to be a part of representing the U.S. for the 2012 London Olympics.
Grandmaster Eui Lee has many accomplishments and honors to his name. Now he can add 2012 London Olympics coach for the U.S.A. Taekwondo Team. He will be one of three team coaches.
“I will be working with training partners to help the Olympians be ready for their games,” Coach Lee said.
He expects that he will also scout matches, which he explained as watching and taking notes of matches involving individuals from other teams. The information will help the U.S.A. team athletes better prepare for their matches.

Coach Lee’s other positions include head instructor at the of Maple Grove, president of the Minnesota Taekwondo Association, head coach of the Minnesota Peak Performance Competition Team, and seven years as coach for the U.S.A. National Team. Earlier this year, Patch reported that .
He has practiced taekwondo since he was four years old, Coach Lee said. He learned under his father, Grandmaster Byung Yul Lee, who started the World Taekwondo Academy in 1969.

As a coach, he said that he enjoys seeing athletes’ hard work pay off as they improve. He is excited to coach and represent the U.S. at the Olympics.
The taekwondo matches will not occur until towards the end of the Olympics, and Coach Lee said that it may be a challenge to keep the athletes focused. He is not really worried, however.
“We have a good group of people,” he said.
