School Lunch Prices to Increase in Osseo School District 279

Federal mandate requires the district to increase lunch prices for the 2012-2013 school year.

Students taking hot lunch in the  this school year will be paying a little more out of pocket for their food.

The Osseo School District School Board unanimously approved increasing school lunch prices by 10 cents for the 2012-2013 school year at a June school board meeting.

The reason for the increase, according to a memo provided to the School Board by District 279 Director of Food Services Tom Pellegrino, is because the “USDA has issued a mandate nationwide to raise paid lunch prices by at least 10 cents every school year until the average lunch price is high enough to be in compliance with Paid Lunch Equity (PLE).”
