Scholarships Available for District 279 Seniors

Scholarships are a great way to help ease college expenses. 

In order to take advantage of these, it’s important to plan ahead and prepare scholarship applications by the deadlines. Here are a few scholarships currently available specifically for Osseo Area Public Schools seniors. For more information on these and other scholarships, students are encouraged to visit their school’s Career Resource Center.

WASTEBASKET REVUE SCHOLARSHIP

Graduating seniors of the ACHIEVE program, Maple Grove Senior High, Osseo Area Learning Center, Osseo Senior High, Osseo Secondary Transition Center, or Park Center Senior High are eligible to apply for a Wastebasket Revue Scholarship.

The intent of this scholarship is to assist students in the pursuit of their post-secondary education. It may be used for a variety of school expenses.

The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement, involvement in activities, leadership, honors and awards, service, financial need, and a personal narrative.

ALICE RAGBORG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

The Alice Ragborg Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in 1998 by her family and friends in recognition of Alice's commitment to education.

Applicants to this scholarship must be high school seniors graduating from Osseo Senior High, Maple Grove Senior High or Park Center Senior high and students who plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year. One recipient will receive this $2,000 award each year. The award may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.

The scholarship recipient is selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of career goals, two essays, and a letter of recommendation. Financial need will be considered.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America. Scholarship Management Services is the nation's largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.

OARE SCHOLARSHIP

With funds raised primarily from its annual Scholarship Breakfast, the Osseo Area Retired Educators (OARE) is offering three $1,500 scholarships to District 279 graduating seniors.

These scholarships are given to students who plan to attend any college, university or technical college.

Applications must be completed and returned by Thursday, March 27. Applicants may receive information in their respective school’s Career Resource Center, or on his/her school web site.
