Dean Henke, Linda Etim and Jacki Girtz officially began their terms as Osseo School Board members on Jan. 8 when they were sworn in.
Newcomers Etim and Girtz joined Henke, who was re-elected, and took the oath of office during a recent school board organizational meeting. Superintendent Kate Maguire welcomed the group during the first regular school board meeting of the year.
“I’m delighted to work with you all,” Maguire said. “I’m very proud to serve with a really effective board and people who are knowledgeable and committed and incredible learners. I’m thankful for that everyday.”
After last November’s elections, Etim shared her excitement about her new role with the community.
“It will be an honor and privilege to serve once again on the Osseo School District School Board on your behalf,” Etim said in a statement. “Again, thank you and I look forward to serving.”
School board members will be faced with a number of challenges in the next few years, including the task of reducing the district’s expenditures by $11 million.
