Maple Grove Student Earns Spot on USA Junior World Taekwondo Team

Zachery Budde will compete at the 2012 Junior World Taekwondo Championships in Egypt.

After years of training, student and Maple Grove resident Zachery Budde will be competing in the 2012 Junior World Taekwondo Championships.

Budde recently earned a spot on the USA Junior World Taekwondo team, one of 20 team members to earn a spot from throughout the United States. Budde is the only Minnesota athlete on the team. The group will travel to Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt in April for the 2012 Junior World Taekwondo Championship competition. 

According to USA Taekwondo, Budde trains with coach Grandmaster Eui Lee, his dojang at  in Maple Grove.

"I have never once questioned if this is the sport for me," Budde said on the USA Taekwondo website. "I know that whether teaching, training, volunteering, or competing, I will always have a home with Taekwondo."

Budde's accomplishment was highlighted during "Points of Pride" segment at the Jan. 22 Osseo School District School Board meeting.
