Photos: Maple Grove Boys Hockey Loses to Wayzata in Turkey Trot Tournament

The 4-1 loss came Nov. 23, 2012 for the varsity team.

After coming off a state tournament run last year, the Maple Grove Senior High boys hockey team lost one of their first game of the season Friday, Nov. 23 with a 4-1 loss against Wayzata High School. The Crimson faced the Trojans in the Wayzata Turkey Trot tournament.

Sophomore Joe Norenberg scored the only goal for the Crimson.  For Wayzata, each of the four goals was a varsity career first for freshman Max Zimmer, juniors Chad Olson and Chandler Linstrand and sophomore Matthew Freytag, according to the Star Tribune.

The Crimson also faced Holy Family Catholic and came away with a 5-2 loss.

The next game for the Crimson is against Edina 8 p.m. Dec. 1, 2012 at the Maple Grove Community Center, according to the Minnesota State High School League website.  Wayzata will take on Rosemount 7 p.m. Nov. 27 at Rosemount.

The Crimson’s varsity roster for the 2012-2013 season include: Josh Passolt, Nolan Kermode, Charlie Thomsen, Sam Valerius, Parker Dean, Joe Franta, David Brumm, Aric Kohns, Joe Norenberg, Josh Augustine, Nate Erickson, Chris Freemark, David Corazalla, Jake Abernathy, Sam Franta, Drake Thomsen,    John Danielson and Calvin McKenney.
