LETTER: To Those Affected By Basswood Boundary Change

'Do not be afraid of this change to OV, you have a unique opportunity to have a huge impact on the outcome of the educational experience of the children of Oak View.'

This is a letter to the editor from Plymouth resident Marty Cohen:

To the Parents of Census Area 284,

Change is never easy, but for many families that have been dealing with the campus scenario, I believe that everyone is looking forward to the standard school configuration that the rest of the district enjoys.

Do not be afraid of this change to OV, you have a unique opportunity to have a huge impact on the outcome of the educational experience of the children of Oak View. Your community will comprise roughly 1/8 of the population of Oak View. This will have a huge impact.

Since this school does not currently have a K-4 in it, all of the students coming to this building will be new. This will be an opportunity to help build a PTO and relationships with others. This building is going to be just like a brand new school. The 5th and 6th grade parents potentially have just one more year in this building. This building is going to need your assistance along with the other roughly 75 percent of families that will be new to the building.

Make this building a great experience for everyone. There are not many opportunities in life to start over, this is one.

As a fellow Plymouth resident I look forward to all of our kids being in the same building. We already share Plymouth Park and Rec, why not share the same school.

Marty Cohen
