For Sale: New Home Built in Place of Home Destroyed By Fire in Maple Grove

An open house for the property is Monday, Jan. 13 from 4-7 p.m.

An overheated lamp cord caused a fire that destroyed a Maple Grove home in April, but new energy has been breathed into the property.

A brand new home at 7790 Chesshire Lane North is on now on the market.

On Wednesday, April 24 just after 7 p.m., a fire swept through the home. No one was injured in the fire, but the home was a total loss.

“The frame of the couch was sitting on top the cord which caused the cord to kink," according to the Maple Grove Fire Department incident report. "Black electrical tape was wrapped around the cord approximately 12 inches from the plug. Arcing was found on several locations on the wire of the cord.”

Today, we're looking at a brand new home on the half-acre lot. With an asking price of $459,900, the home has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths in 2,900 square feet with views of Fish Lake.

Realtor Scott Baumgartner, with Edina Realty, said they are having a "huge open house" for the property on Monday, Jan. 13 from 4-7 p.m., and everyone is invited.
