Weaver Lake Road Rehab Project Takes Another Step Forward

The proposed project could start the summer of 2012.

Last year, the establishing a road rehabilitation project for Weaver Lake Road.

The City Council moved the project another step forward last week by receiving the feasibility report, declaring costs to be assessed, ordering preparation for the assessment roll, ordering a special assessment hearing and ordering plans.

“Due to the deteriorating pavement conditions on Weaver Lake Road and the increasing cost to maintain this roadway, staff is recommending a full pavement replacement, or rehabilitation, on this major roadway from the west side of the intersection of Weaver Lake Road and West Fish Lake Road and the concrete bridge deck over Interstate 94,” Maple Grove Traffic Engineer Marc Culver said in a memo to the council for the April 2 meeting.

A portion of the $1.056 million road rehabilitation project is proposed to be special assessments. A full breakdown on the assessments proposed can be found here.

All work “will be performed” between 8 p.m. Friday evening and 5 a.m. Monday morning once the project is approved and begins. Work on the project would likely start in summer 2012, if approved by the Council. Work is anticipated to last a total of three weekends and no work will occur during Maple Grove Days.

“We will also use our existing road construction email list and the city’s web page to inform the public of the dates of construction,” he said, and “…encourage the public to use alternate routes.”

What’s next?

The Maple Grove City Council is scheduled to receive public comment on the proposed project and proposed assessments at a meeting 7:30 p.m. May 7, 2012 at the . The Council could also decide to order the project at that time.
