"This 140 foot stretch of roadway is a remnant left over from the Weaver Lake Road expansion project that was completed in 2005," Marc Culver, Maple Grove's traffic engineer, said in council documents.

The construction of the roadway got cut short years ago in order to comply with federal funding requirements for the project at the time.

"It was suggested to the county that this would be a good opportunity to improve this section of the roadway since traffic is already being impacted by the [Weaver Lake Road] project," Culvers said. "The county agreed to add this section of roadway to our project."

The improvements to the county road will add $13,000 to the Weaver Lake Road project, but Hennepin County will be billed based on final bid prices.

The rehabilitation for Weaver Lake Road will take place on the west side of the intersection of Weaver Lake Road and West Fish Lake Road and the concrete bridge deck over Interstate 94.
