Theisen, DeJournett Defeat Incumbent in 2012 Primary for County Park Commissioner District 2

In a close race, incumbent Three Rivers Park Board commissioner Marilynn Corcoran does not move onto the general election

Editor’s note: The following are unofficial results for the 2012 Minnesota primary election, according to the Minnesota Secretary of State website. County results are unofficial until canvassed Aug. 16 or 17.

In a close race, Rick Theisen and Jennifer DeJournett defeated to incumbent Marilynn Corcoran in the District 2 County Park Commissioner race in the primary election Aug. 14.

Both Theisen and DeJournett will move onto to face one another in the November general election.

Theisen lead the trio with 42.88 percent of the votes followed by DeJournett with 28.75 percent of the votes. Corcoran trailed with 28.37 percent of the votes. According to the Secretary of State website, DeJournett and Corcoran were separated by 21 votes.

It was the first time Maple Grove was part of District 2 County Park Commissioner for an election. Before the earlier this year, Maple Grove was part of District 1. Effective Jan. 1, 2013, Three Rivers Park District 2 will represent Maple Grove, most of Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Dayton and Osseo. As a result, incumbent Marilynn Corcoran faced Jennifer DeJournett and Rick Theisen in the 2012 primary Aug. 14.
