Public Hearing for the Bottineau Transitway

The public is invited to attend a public hearing for the Bottineau Transitway at 5 p.m. June 12, in the Hennepin County Board Room, A-2400, 300 S. Sixth St., Minneapolis.

The is a proposed 13-mile transit line serving the cities of Minneapolis, Golden Valley, Robbinsdale, Crystal, New Hope, Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove and Osseo.

The Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (HCRRA) and the Bottineau Policy Advisory and Community Advisory committees have recommended that four light-rail transit alternatives advance for further study in the ongoing Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), and that study of the bus rapid transit mode be stopped and not included in the DEIS.

The June 12 public hearing gives residents, business owners and neighborhood groups and others interested in the project the opportunity to provide comments to the HCRRA on which of the four alternatives they think the preferred route should be. The HCRRA will then make its recommendation, called the Locally Preferred Alternative, to the Metropolitan Council on June 26.

Those interested in speaking at the public hearing are encouraged to sign up ahead of time by calling Maggie at 612-348-9260; otherwise you can sign-up at the public hearing. There is a three-minute limit for each speaker, so please prepare accordingly.
