After facing a recount in the 2012 primary, Jennifer DeJournett won over Rick Theisen in the Nov. 6 general election for the District 2 Henneipn County Park Commissioner seat.
Jennifer DeJournett received 31,851 (52.36%) of the votes against Rick Theisen who received 28,550 (46.94%) of the votes, according to unofficial results on the Hennepin County website.
"I would like to thank the Three Rivers Park community for their confidence in my candidacy and for the support I received from all across the district,” DeJournett wrote in a post election email to Patch. “The experience of door-knocking and meeting with residents has been great and I'm pleased that my opportunity to work with the community has only just begun. Thank you to all my volunteers and supporters who helped me out reach to our entire district. A special thank you also goes to my opponent, Rick Theisen. Our community will surely benefit from the ideas that were shared and the discussions that were had regarding the future of our park system. I am humbled by the outcome of the election and I am looking forward to serving my community as their new Three Rivers Park Commissioner.”
District 2, which was reconfigured earlier this year as part of redistricting, serves Maple Grove, most of Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Dayton and Osseo as of Jan. 1, 2013.
