Portions of County Road 81 in Maple Grove Remain Closed May 24

Delays expected along the heavily traveled roadway.

County Road 81 (Bottineau Boulevard) in Maple Grove was closed unexpectedly Monday, May 23 for crews to clean up the roadway following heavy rainfall over the weekend, according to Hennepin County Transportation Department.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation stated the roadway was reopened as of early evening on May 23, but reduced to a single lane in each direction. The lane reduction is expected to continue through Tuesday, May 24.

"All lanes of traffic will reopen on Wednesday, May 25," according to a press release from the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The area of lane reduction from 93rd Avenue North (County Road 30) to Fernbrook Lane in Mapel Grove is the site if the ongoing project. Construction of about three miles of a four-lane highway between Highway 169 in Brooklyn Park and County Road 81 in Maple Grove is expected to be completed July 2011.

The city urges travelers along County Road 81 to consider using alternate routes of travel until County Road 81 completely reopens.
