Council Approves Lease Agreement Between Maple Grove, Sterilmed

The agreement allows the Maple Grove business to lease city land to construct a parking lot.

The Maple Grove City Council recently approved a new lease agreement with Maple Grove based Sterilmed to make a parking lot on city owned land.

The proposed parking lot is east of the Sterilmed off of 73rd Avenue North. The agreement runs for 10 years with the city receiving $8,000 a year for the lease duration, according to Sept. 17 Maple Grove City Council documents. However, the city can terminate the lease agreement after five years and Sterilmed would be require to remove “any improvements” on the land within 60 days of lease termination and “the site shall be returned to its original state.”

The property was originally purchased by the city with the intent of “holding it for potential transportation improvements” such as an eastbound Interstate 94 ramp from the gravel mining area, according to council documents.
