City Agrees Maple Grove Transit Station can be Used as Minnesota State Fair Shuttle Bus Station

Agreement for 2011 includes shuttle bus service to the Minnesota State Fair on specific dates only.

The Maple Grove City Council recently approved an agreement with Metropolitan Council for 2011 shuttle bus service from the Maple Grove Transit Station to the Minnesota State Fair.

The agreement with Metropolitan Council was approved at Monday, June 6 Maple Grove City Council meeting. According to a memo provided to the City Council from city staff, the dates included in the agreement would be Saturday and Sundays during the State Fair and Labor Day.

“Service would not be provided on weekdays during the State Fair, because the Maple Grove Transit Station as the parking ramp is being utilized for the Maple Grove Transit express bus service,” the memo said.

Metro Transit will pay for the staff and equipment to run buses every 30 minutes from 8 a.m. to midnight Aug. 27, 28 and Sept. 3-5.

“The city’s only responsibility and commitment would be to provide access to the ramp and station,” the memo said, further stating the agreement “represents an opportunity for the city to provide a service to our residents at no cost to the city.”
