2012 Minnesota Primary Election: Judicial Races, Federal, County Park Seats

During the primary election on Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 voters in Maple Grove will vote for Three Rivers Park Commissioner candidates while partisan ballots will push through candidates in federal races.

The polls open at 7 a.m., Aug. 14 in Maple Grove for the 2012 Minnesota primary election.

A reminder that primary ballots in Minnesota are partisan ballots, so voters must stick to one party on that side of the ballot. County and judicial races are non-partisan.

In a county race, Marilynn Corcoran, Jennifer DeJournett and Rick Theisen are on the ballot for the District 2 Three Rivers Park Commissioner race.

Judicial races will also have a large stake in the primary.

Incumbent Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Lorie Skjerven Gildea is being challenged by Dan Griffith and Jill Clark. Meanwhile, David R. Stras, an associate justice on the state’s high court, faces challenges from Tim Tingelstad and Alan Anderson.

State Senate District 3 has faceoff in the Republican column between incumbent Erik Paulsen and John W. Howard III. On the DFL side, Brian Barnes is running unopposed.

At the Senate level, incumbent Sen. Amy Klobuchar faces a primary challenge from fellow Dems Darryl Stanton, Jack Edward Shepard and Dick Franson. Republicans have endorsed , but challengers Bob Carney Jr. and David Carlson are also on the ballot.

The Independence Party has Glen R. Anderson Menze and Stephen Williams in the U.S. Senate race, as well.
