Two Firefighters Injured Battling House Fire: Maple Grove Fire Blotter

The Maple Grove Fire Department also responded to a car fire.

The following are incidents were responded to by the Maple Grove Fire Department from Oct. 22-28, 2012. Details provided by the fire department.

Oct. 22

  • 15500 block of 92nd Place North. Unauthorized burning.

  • 8600 block of Valley Forge Lane North. Lightning strike, no fire. Fire alarms sounding.  Heavy thunderstorms moving through area.  Appears building may have been struck by lightning.  No fire.
  • 18800 block of 63rd Place North. House fire. Resident reports house was struck by lightning.  Stations #4 and #5 dispatched.  First police officers arriving on scene report fire in attic.  Stations #1 and #2 dispatched.   Station #3 moved up. Plymouth requested for one engine mutual aid. Captain on scene reporting heavy smoke with working fire in attic and assumed command. Fire too intense, interior crews withdrawn. Used master stream from TW-41 to knock down fire. Personnel reentered second floor and took care of overhaul. Two firefighters injured, one due to falling debris was transported by ambulance to hospital and released. The other had a knee injury and was seen in urgent care.
  • 13700 block of 74th Place North. Public service assistance.
  • 10700 block of 99th Place North. EMS call.

Oct. 24

  • 6500 block of Eagle Lake Drive. Carbon monoxide incident.

  • Eastbound Instate 94 west of Highway 169. Passenger vehicle fire. Fire started and was confined to engine compartment.

Oct. 26

  • 13000 block of 73rd Avenue North. Unauthorized burning.

Oct. 27

  • 9500 block of 97th Avenue North. Authorized controlled burning.
  • 10300 block of Boundary Creek Terrace. Unauthorized burning - no permit.

Oct. 28

  • 6600 block of Fountain Lane North. Strange odor/smell.
  • 66th Place North and Marilyn Drive North. Outside rubbish, trash or waste fire. Small trash pile next to a tree was started on fire by kids. Extinguished with water extinguisher.
  • Shadow Creek Drive North and Weaver Lake Road. Motor Vehicle Accident with no injuries.

There were 11 reports that were determined to be malfunctioning or false alarms.
