Updated: Elk River Woman Dies in Weekend Crash on Highway 169

A fatal crash involving three cars on northbound Hwy. 169 near 63rd Avenue has closed the highway, KSTP reported Saturday at about 2 p.m. The crash occurred shortly before 1 p.m., KSTP said, and the Minnesota State Patrol is on the scene.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the accident happened on northbound Highway 169 and 63rd Avenue at approximately 12:55 p.m. Saturday, June 1 involving three vehicles. The Minnesota State Patrol remains on the scene. No additional information has been released.

KSTP reported as of 3 p.m. Saturday the roadway was reopened.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol,  a 30-year-old Blaine man stopped his vehicle in traffic. A 72-year-old Elk River man tried to avoid colliding with the first vehicle and "clipped rear of truck." The passenger of the second vehicle, identified by the Minnesota State Patrol as 63-year-old Louise J. Moyer of Elk River, died in the accident.

The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the incident.

According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiners Office, Louise Jo Moyer died on Highway 169 north at intersection with 63rd Avenue in Brooklyn Park June 1 "as a result of blunt force chest injury."
