Police: Maple Grove Apartment Shooting Was 'Unintentional'

The last time Maple Grove Police talked with the 18-year-old victim, she was recovering at the hospital.

Maple Grove Police believe the shooting in Maple Grove on Sunday night was "unintentional."

A woman was shot Sunday night at Mallard Ridge apartments located at 13301 Maple Knoll Way.

A neighbor called police and reported that a woman was bleeding in the hallway as a result of a possible domestic assault.

Police found an 18-year-old woman with a gun shot wound on the left side of her neck and a significant loss of blood. Both victim and suspect were on the scene, according to reports. The victim was treated for non life-threatening injuries, according to Maple Grove Police.

A 22-year-old adult male was taken into custody without incident at the scene and was arrested for reckless discharge of a firearm. No additional charges were filed against him.

"If it had been something more than that, there would have been much different charges filed," said Captain Keith Terlinden of the Maple Grove Police Department.

Captain Terlinden said the department hasn't talked to the victim recently, but the last time they talked with her she was recovering at the hospital.
