Police Issue Alert: Reports of Possible Assault on Maple Grove Park Trails/Paths

The incidents that occurred in Maple Grove were reported to police June 10 and June 18.

The Maple Grove Police Department issued an alert to citizens Wednesday, June 19 regarding two reports of possible assault occurring on city park trails/paths in Maple Grove.

The alert issued June 19, 2013 by the Maple Grove Police state:

In the past nine days the Maple Grove Police Department has received two reports of assault where inappropriate touching has occurred on the park trails/paths within the City of Maple Grove.

The first incident occurred on June 10th in the 11500 block of West Eagle Lk Dr at 5:30 p.m. The female victim was approached from behind and touched inappropriately. The suspect then immediately fled the area.

The second incident occurred on June 18th near Weaver Lk Rd/I94 (Rice Lake Trails) at 9:15 a.m. The female victim was also approached from behind, touched inappropriately, and the suspect immediately fled.

In each case the suspect has been described as a male with darker skin tone, 16-19 years old, 170 lbs, medium length dark wavy or shaggy hair, wide-flat nose, and no facial hair. After each incident the suspect has fled from the victims on foot to a blue bicycle nearby.

The Maple Grove Police is asking residents to be extra aware of their surroundings and call 911 immediately if they see any individuals matching the above description.
