Investigation Completed Into Cause of Chesshire Lane House Fire

The April 24 fire which destroyed a home on the 7700 block of Chesshire Lane North in Maple Grove.

An investigation has been completed by the Maple Grove Fire Department into the cause of an April 24 house fire that destroyed a home on the 7700 block of Chesshire Lane North.

A lamp cord, which overheated and arced, according to the Maple Grove Fire Department, was determined to have started the fire.

“The frame of the couch was sitting on top the cord which caused the cord to kink. Black electrical tape was wrapped around the cord approximately 12 inches from the plug. It was unknown if there was previous damage to the cord,” according to the Maple Grove Fire Department incident report. “Arcing was found on several locations on the wire of the cord.”
