House Fires, Gas Leaks: Maple Grove Fire Blotter

A weekly report of incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Fire Department.

The following are incidents responded to by the  from July 30 to Aug. 5, 2012 as provided by the Maple Grove Fire Department.

July 30

  • 9700 block of Troy Lane North. when windows broke out on rear lower level and flames came out the windows. Stations four and five dispatched initially, second alarm issued brining stations two and one to the scene.  Extensive fire damage in room of origin in basement. Extensive heat and smoke damage throughout structure. No one was home at time of fire. Unit is part of an attached two unit townhome.  Occupants of adjoining unit were at home at time of fire.  No fire damage to adjoining unit. Maple Grove Fire Investigation Team handling further investigation of this incident.
  • Interest 94 exit to Weaver Lane. Electrical fire in fuse block on pickup truck. Fire was out, police requested fire to respond to scene to verify fire out. Fire occurred during multi-station structure fire.  Station three was standing by at station two and responded to this call with duty crew.

Aug. 1

  • 11900 block of 73rd Avenue North.  Steam, vapor, fog or dust thought to be smoke
  • 1700 block of 5th Avenue South in Anoka.  Mutual aid assist to Anoka/Champlin at scene of house fire. 

Aug. 2

  • 62nd Avenue North and Eagle Lake Drive.  Cut Natural gas pipe at construction site.  Line was sheared off by backhoe, line not marked.  Fire Department stood by until CenterPoint Energy responded.

Aug. 3

  • 12000 block of 71st Place North. Medical assist.
  • County Road 81 west of Fernbrook. Assist police or other governmental agency.

Aug. 5

  • 7700 block of Kingsview Lane North. Fire in basement refrigerator.  Homeowner used dry chemical fire extinguisher to put out the fire.  Fire Department used fans to ventilate smoke and fire extinguisher dust from residence.
  • 6700 block of Evergreen Lane North. Authorized controlled burning.

There were also nine incidents of false or malfunctioning alarms.
