Grass Fires, Car Caught on Fire: Maple Grove Fire Blotter

The Maple Grove Fire Department assisted Hamel with a building fire.

The following incidents were responded to by the Maple Grove Fire Department from May 6 - May 12, 2013. Details and incident descriptions provided by the Maple Grove Fire Department.

May 6 

  • 13500 block of 80th Circle North. Smoke scare, odor of smoke. 
  • 9800 block of Hospital Drive. Assist police or other governmental agency. 

May 7

  • 7000 block of Hemlock Lane North. Medical assist, assist EMS crew. 
  • 11800 block of 86th Avenue North. Authorized controlled burning. 
  • I-94 and 101st Avenue North. Grass fire. Car and grass fire. 
  • 15000 block of 91st Avenue North. Unauthorized burning - no permit. 
  • I-94 and Hemlock Lane. Passenger vehicle fire. Car fire in engine compartment. Car is total loss.

May 9 

  • 16800 block of 91st Avenue North. Cooking fire, confined to container.

  • 9200 block of Black Oaks Lane North. Strange odor/smell. 
  • 11200 block of 93rd Avenue North. Gasoline or other flammable liquid spill. Vehicle spilled approximately five gallons of gasoline on pavement at service station.  Fire department applied two containers of absorbent to spill. 

May 11

  • 4700 block of Foxberry Drive. Hamel building fire. Mutual aid assist to Hamel Fire Department for tower. Set up tower and checked for extension of fire in attic. 
  • 9500 block of Niagara Lane North. Medical assist, assist EMS crew. 
  • 8700 block of Peony Lane North. EMS call, excluding vehicle accident with injury. 
  • 9500 block of Zircon Court. Medical assist, assist EMS crew. 
  • 17300 block of 62nd Avenue North. Grass fire. Grass fire reported, Grassy area in between new home development and pond. G-51 with tank water used. No structures or dollar loss. 
  • 14200 block of 68th Place North. Gas leak (natural gas or LPG). Natural gas odor in yard in area of old gas light. CenterPoint Energy called to scene. 

There were also five false or malfunctioning alarm reports.
