Gas Leaks, Smoke Scares: Maple Grove Fire Blotter

There was also an incident of unauthorized burning and assistance for the Anoka Fire Department.

The following are incidents responded to by the Maple Grove Fire Department from Sept. 24-30, 2012.

Sept. 24

  • Bass Lake Road and County Road North 101. Vehicle accident, general cleanup.
  • 2300 block of 3rd Avenue in Anoka. Mutual aid standby coverage.
  • Elm Road and Lawndale Lane North. Report of odor, smell of gas.
  • 12400 block of James Deane Parkway. Report of gas leak.

  • 8900 block of Inland Lane North. Report of gas leak. Clearing/trimming bushes and hit the gas line after the meter. CenterPoint Energy called, arrived and took over the situation and fire was cleared.

Sept. 26

  • 9100 block of Ranier Lane North. Report of odor/smell of gas.
  • 10100 block of 104th Avenue. Report of odor/smell of gas.

  • 7000 block of Fernbrook Lane North. Unauthorized burning - no permit.
  • 73rd Avenue North and Rosewood Lane. Smoke scare, odor of smoke.

Sept. 30

  • 12900 block of 89th Avenue North. Fire out report. Someone started the trees on fire on the east side of the property while homeowner was out of town. The night before the neighbors saw smoke from their garage. They ran to the house and saw flames, they put the fire out with a garden hose, did not call the fire dept. They called the owner to let them know what happened. The owner called the next day for a report.
  • 17300 block of Bass Lake Road. Smoke scare, odor of smoke. Paged to a possible house fire. Arrived to find a resident burning scrap wood in a homemade steel enclosed fire box. Homeowner put out fire and will contact the office to get a proper permit.

There were also 13 reports that were false or malfunctioning alarms.
