Christmas Tree Catches Fire: Maple Grove Fire Blotter

The Maple Grove Fire Department also responded to a dryer fire during, according to the Nov. 26 to Dec. 1, 2012 blotter.

The following are incidents were responded to by the Maple Grove Fire Department from Nov. 26 to Dec. 1, 2012. Details provided by the fire department.

Crews from the Maple Grove Fire Department were dispatched to a home on the 6800 block of Empire Lane North around 6:45 p.m. Nov. 26. Upon arriving, it was determined lights wrapped around an artificial Christmas tree had “caught fire.” The fire was put out with a fire extinguisher by a neighbor. The fire cased  “minimal damage to carpet adjacent to the location of the Christmas tree.”

  • Dunkirk Lane North and Weaver Lake Road. Oil or other combustible liquid spill. 
  • 12600 block of 92nd Place North. Building fire. Lint in clothes dryer caught fire.  Fire out. Suggested to homeowner that dryer be moved out of the home.

Nov. 27

  • 12100 block of Robin Road. Odor of natural gas in residence. Owner called 911 to report odor of gas. Unable to find source.  CenterPoint Energy found slight LEL in kitchen. Owner said she left the gas on by accident after cooking earlier. Opened windows to ventilate kitchen.  CenterPoint Energy later found a slight leak at the meter and made repairs.
  • 6700 block of Hemlock Lane North. Burnt food.
  • 11400 block of Fountains Drive. Breakdown of light ballast.

  • 14500 block of 99th Avenue North. EMS call, excluding vehicle accident with injury. Called to assist police department at scene of personal injury accident with clean up of motor fluids.
  • 17520 63rd Place North. Overheated motor.

Nov. 29

  • 10900 block of 93rd Avenue North. Smoke scare, odor of smoke 

Dec. 1

  • 200 block of West Eagle Lake Drive. Strange odor/smell.
  • 13500 block of 89th Circe North. Unauthorized burning.
  • 9300 block of Peony Lane North. Permit - not following guidelines.

There were four false or malfunctioning alarm incidents.
